Post iPhone test results to Linear

Connect Linear to Mobster for Mac and its agent opens an issue with the steps and the screen it found on your iPhone, after you approve the call.

What you ask Mobster

Open a Linear issue for the crash I hit in the app on my phone

A failure on a phone that nobody writes down is a failure that gets found again next week. With Linear connected to Mobster for Mac, the agent that saw the failure also files it: the title, the steps it took and what was on screen, in the team you name.

Set it up once

  1. In Mobster for Mac, open Settings › Connectors and press + next to Linear.
  2. Sign in to Linear in your browser and allow Mobster.
  3. The row reads Connected. with Linear’s tool count. Choose Details to see each tool. create_issue starts at Ask, and that is the setting this page assumes.

What Mobster does

Give the agent the task above, or make it specific: Open a Linear issue in the Mobile team for the crash I hit in the app on my phone, with the steps.

  1. The agent looks at the iPhone: the screen the app is on and the steps of the run so far.
  2. It calls Linear. Because create_issue is at Ask, you get the approval card first. It reads the way the docs show it: Use Linear: create_issue? {"title": "Fix login"}, with your real title and description in the arguments.
  3. You approve. Mobster writes a connector_call event with status sending before the call goes out, and done with Linear’s answer once it comes back. The answer is the new issue, for example Created ENG-431: Fix login.
  4. The task’s steps show Used Linear: create_issue.

What you get

An issue in Linear whose text came from a real run: what the agent tapped, the screen it ended on and what it expected. The task keeps the same record, with a chip for each screen the agent read, so you can open the screen the issue describes.

If Linear doesn’t answer within 60 seconds, the step says Linear: create_issue didn't answer. Mobster never sends that call again in the task, because the issue may or may not exist. The agent searches Linear for it before it tries anything else.

Variations that work with the same connector

  • Read my Linear issues due this week and set reminders for them. This one reads Linear and writes to Reminders on your iPhone. It is one of the examples the app ships for Linear.
  • Find the login bug in Linear and text Sam its title. The agent reads the issue and sends the text on your iPhone. The text asks you first.

Tested

Mobster connected to Linear, read from it and wrote to it on 15 Oct 2026, then disconnected and reconnected. The read listed teams (list_teams). The write created issue RAD-26. Linear’s own page lists every tool its MCP server offers.

Questions

  • Can a finished run post its result to Linear by itself?

Not as a Send results destination. Send results covers Google Sheets, Notion, Discord, email, a folder and webhooks. Inside a task, the Linear connector creates the issue. To start something in Linear from a finished run without a task, send the result to a Zapier webhook and let the Zap create the issue.

  • Does Mobster create the issue without asking?

No. Every tool starts at Ask. The agent shows the call, such as Use Linear, create_issue, with the title it will send, and calls Linear only after you approve. You can switch a tool to Allow when you trust it.

  • Which Linear team gets the issue?

The one you name in the task. The agent can list your teams first, which is what the connector's test read does.

  • Does the `mobster test` command post to Linear?

No. Connectors are part of Mobster for Mac. The mobster command and a task another agent starts over MCP don't get them.
