Design Engineer

You design and build Mobster for Mac and mobster.dev in code, on one design system.

About Mobster

Agents learned to use the browser first, and the same shift is coming to the phone, where your apps, messages and accounts live. We build Mobster so agents can do anything on your real iPhone, and ask you before anything goes out.

Andy Guo founded Mobster, and Radish Retail, LLC builds, sells and supports it. Mobster for Mac is the app people pay for, and its engine is open source under MIT.

What you’ll do

  • Design and build Mobster for Mac’s screens in React, in a WebKit window, to the standard of the best Mac apps.
  • Own the design system: tokens, type, icons, motion and the primitives every surface shares.
  • Build mobster.dev in Next.js, from the home page to the docs’ look.
  • Rebuild real app screens 1:1 for the site and launches. No placeholders.
  • Check every change in the real app, in light and dark, before it ships.

What we look for

  • A portfolio of interfaces you designed and built yourself.
  • Expert React, TypeScript and CSS.
  • An eye for spacing, type and motion, and the states nobody asked for.
  • You hold your own work to the bar of the best Mac apps.

Nice to have

  • Figma, and a design system you kept for years.
  • Native macOS or iOS design.
  • Motion in CSS, SVG or Lottie.
  • WebKit performance work.

Location

Work from anywhere in the United States. We ask for four hours a weekday that overlap with Pacific time.

Pay

$140,000 to $185,000 base salary a year, and meaningful early equity. The range holds anywhere in the US. Where an offer sits in it depends on your experience.
